Search
|
|
You may combine number and title searches. For example, enter "9001" in the Document Number field, enter "spec" in the Document Title field and then click Search. This will select all documents that contain numbers starting with "9001" AND words starting with "spec."
|
Search Tips:
1) Do not include special characters (e.g. #,-,/,*,&,etc.)
2) Use spaces in place of special characters (e.g. J STD 025 instead of J-STD-025)
3) Put spaces between all sections of your search term (e.g. ASTM D 149, rather than ASTM D149)
4) Do not include dates in document number searches
5) If the search results are too broad and you know the exact document number for which you are searching, put quotes around the document number (e.g. "API SPEC 7-1")
6) Try to avoid general terms in Title/Keyword searches such as "electrical standards". Try to be as specific as possible.

What is a secure PDF?
|
|
In an effort to protect their intellectual property and enforce existing copyright laws, many Standards Developing Organizations have required all distributors of their content to implement a security feature that prevents the reproduction and redistribution of downloaded documents.
In compliance with this request, we have implemented a security policy that utilizes a free Adobe Acrobat plug-in from FileOpen Systems, Inc. Security Features: - Reproduction and Redistribution Restrictions: This security system has been implemented through the use of a free Adobe Acrobat plug-in that "locks" the PDF file to the computer on which it was first opened. Once a PDF file has been locked to a computer, it can be opened only from that computer.
- Networking Restrictions: Secure PDF files cannot be used in a multi-user, network environment. If you are interested in purchasing standards for you internal corporate network, please contact your local IHS Office to obtain a network version of the document(s) and a network license.
- Viewing Restrictions: You will be required to download the free plug-in to view any secured PDF document. There is no limit to the number of times a document may be viewed on your computer.
- Printing Restrictions: The plug-in limits the number of times the document may be printed to one copy. Since printing a part of the document is interpreted by the software as the one allowable print attempt, we recommend you print the entire document.
- Copy & Paste Restrictions: The ability to copy and paste text from the PDF file has been disabled.
Download Instructions: - All electronic documents will be delivered via an email containing a link to the document(s) ordered. The email will also contain detailed download instructions as well as a link for downloading the plug-in.
- You will have 48 hours in which to download the document(s) ordered.
- Click on the "http://plugin.fileopen.com/plugininstallpage.html" link in the email or on this page to go to the plug-in download page. Download the applicable plug-in for your operating system. This only needs to be done once.
- Once the plug-in has been downloaded, click on the document link(s) at the bottom of the electronic document delivery email to download your document(s).
- If you experience problems downloading the plug-in or document or have additional questions regarding secured PDF files, contact our customer support department at (800) 624-3974 (within the US and Canada) or (303) 792-2181 or send an email to globalcustomerservice@ihs.com.
Click here to download the plug-in System Requirements: - Supported operating systems: Windows 98, 2000, XP or Vista, Macintosh and Linux.
- You must have Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader v4.0 or later. Download the reader for free from www.adobe.com

Card Security Code
|
The card security code (CSC) is usually a 3- or 4-digit number, which is not part of the credit card number. The CSC is typically printed on the back of a credit card (usually in the signature field).
On some cards, all or part of the card number appears before the CSC, for example, 1234 567. In this example, 1234 are the last four digits of the credit card number, and 567 is the CSC.
|
|
The number appears only on the card itself (not on receipts or statements), so it provides some assurance that the physical card is in the possession of the buyer. By using CSC you may be able to reduce your charge back rates.
CSC is known by different names with the different card associations. CSC is known to Visa as the Card Verification Code (CVV2); to MasterCard as the Card Validation Code (CVC2); and finally to American Express as the Card Identification Number (CID).

Why Country Selection is Required Upon Entering the Site
|
Several of the distribution contracts IHS maintains with its partners require that we honor certain territory or pricing restrictions based on where the order is to be shipped. In order to satisfy these contractual obligations, we must ask all our web users to specify the country to which their orders will be shipped. By selecting a country upon entering our site, we can accurately display pricing and availability information.
It is important to note that final pricing and availability will be based on the Ship To country selected in the registration process. If the country selected in registration differs from the country initially selected upon entering the site, pricing and availability may change.
