Full Description

The importance and confusion regarding the need forventilation standards is evidenced by the existence of such standards Innumerous building codes since the early 1900's and, at the same time, thediverse and often conflicting specifications. In 1965, ASHRAE was invited toparticipate in the revision and updating of ASA Standard A53.1, Light andVentilation, date, May 23, 1946. Responsibility for the MechanicalVentilation Sectionof this Standard was assigned to an ASHRAE Project Committeeappointed In 1966. Withthe reorganization of ASA (now ANSI) and a change in itsprocedures, the A53Committee became Inactive; at the instructions of the ASHRAEStandards Committee, the Project Committee was advised to continue Its effortsend develop an ASHRAEStandard.
