This Data Items provides information on the use of ESDU 18002, 18003 and 18004 which deal with the bending of sections beyond the limit of proportionality. Two types of section are considered, namely flanged and circular, and the effect of direct load on the maximum permissible bending moment is shown. The form factors provided by these Data Items incorporate the Ramberg-Osgood formula to define the stress-strain curve of the material.
