Description / Abstract:

The American Petroleum Institute (API) retained Clayton Environmental Consultants. Inc. to perform a gasoline vapor exposure assessment at six service stations (representing six different companies) selected by the APl. The purpose of the study was to characterize the exposure of consumers to airborne gasoline components during self-serve fill-up operations. In addition to personal exposure assessment, air samples were collected at the station fenceline. Clayton also measured local meteorological data, recorded numerous operational parameters, and collected bulk samples of the various grades of gasoline at each station.
