Description / Abstract:

Foreword

The Division of Production, of the American Petroleum Institute, through its Central Committee on Vocational Training,1 has been cooperating for several years with the Departments of Trade and Industrial Education in the various oil producing states in an extensive vocational training program for oil field workers. Under this plan 24 courses of instructional material on various oil field operations have been prepared and validated to date. Complete details of this plan of cooperation, courses available, how to form classes, etc., are given in Bulletin V-1, issued by the API Division of Production, Dallas, Texas.

The training of supervisors and foremen, while closely allied with vocational training, requires separate and individual treatment, because this training is done with employees of individual companies under the leadership and guidance of Conference Leaders, who are also employees of the individual companies.

The purpose of this bulletin is to describe the facilities available in the various states for training conference leaders, so that they, in turn, may conduct supervisory or foremanship training classes in their respective companies. Appendix "A" contains a selected list of reference books pertaining to supervisory training and related subjects.

1Status of the Topical Committee on Vocational Training changed to that of Central Committee at the Institute's 27th annual Meeting, Chicago, III., Nov., 1947.
