Description / Abstract:

1. Scope

1.1 This practice covers the isolation of a representative saturates fraction from depentanized hydrocarbon mixtures that distill below 221°C (430°F). It is applicable for samples containing from 0 to 35 volume % olefinic hydrocarbons. However, for samples that contain less than 1 volume % of olefinic hydrocarbons the procedures given in Test Method D 2002, are recommended.

1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.

1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Specific precautionary statements are given in Notes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
