Description / Abstract:

This test method determines the effectiveness of ovicidal materials in liquid, gel, cream, or shampoo form against the ova (that is, eggs or nits) of the human louse, Pediculus humanus.

This test method is intended for use by those wishing to develop efficacy data or compare ovicidal formulations for human louse ova control.

This test method consists of five replicates for a statistical comparison of formulations.

The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard, except for temperature measurements in Section 5.

This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
