This Standard applies to electrically-powered door opening devices and other opening and closing appliances rated at 600 V or less and intended to be used in nonhazardous locations in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.

This Standard gives requirements for complete doors, gates, and other such assemblies that include electrically-powered opening and closing appliances.

This Standard specifies requirements for accessories, such as external entrapment protection devices, for use with appliances covered by this Standard.

The values given in SI units are the units of record for the purposes of this Standard. The values given in parentheses are for information and comparison only.

In this Standard, "shall" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; "should" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and "may" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard.
