Description / Abstract:

This standard specifies a procedure for the functional determination of the antithrombin activity (formerly known as antithrombin III [AT III]) in the form of heparin cofactor activity with regard to thrombin.

The purpose of this standard is to establish comparable results for the antithrombin content of a sample. This determination is mainly used in the diagnosis of thrombophilic diathesis, for monitoring of a substitution therapy, and for determining the content in antithrombin concentrates
