Description / Abstract:

General

The term "size", besides its other connotations, is commonly used to denote the quantitive values of a large number of different physical quantities. In the present standard, "size" is used exclusively to denote linear sizes.

It is impossible to manufacture a workpiece that does not deviate to some extent from the desired size, even if a high level of technical expertise is employed. Depending on the nature of the tasks involved, limits of size must thus be specified, between which the actual sizes of the workpiece are required to lie.
