This Technical Code applies to the joining of moulded components and semi-fi nished products of thermoplastic materials using ultrasound, preferably in large-scale production.

Joining parts of thermoplastic materials can be plasticized and partially formed using ultrasound. This method is used for riveting and beading. The usual ultrasonic welding machines and devices are used for forming tasks, see Technical Code DVS 2216-1, "Ultrasonic welding of plastic mass-produced parts – Process description, machines and devices, infl uencing variables, design and quality assurance“. In addition to the introduction of heat using ultrasound, other methods of heat input are available on the market,
