FED-STD-228 Revision A, April 18, 2014
TEST METHODS FOR CABLES AND WIRE, INSULATED
This standard gives the general physical, electrical, and chemical methods for testing insulated wire and cable for electrical purposes for conformance with the requirements of Federal and Military specifications, and other related documents. It was prepared in order to eliminate unnecessary or undesirable variation in testing procedures. This standard does not include special test methods applicable to certain wires and cables which are described in the appropriate detail specifications, nor does it include all the test methods for wires and cables used in the industry. In case of conflict between the provisions of those methods and those of the individual test procedures or specifications for particular material, the latter should take precedence.
