This specification covers awls of the type commonly used by shoemakers, saddlers, cabinetmakers, etc., for piercing small holes in leather, wood, and similar materials.
Awls shall be of the following types, classes, and styles, as specified (see 6.2):
Type I. Belt. Type II. Bent-point. Type III. Brad. Type IV. Saddlers. Class A. Collar. Class B. Harness. Class C. Pad or seat. Class D. Pegging. Class E. Sewing and stitching, automatic. Style A. Enclosed spool or bobbin. Style B. Exposed spool or bobbin. Class F. Sewing and stitching, common. Type V. Scratch.
