Description / Abstract:

A benchmark of industry best practices with both a technical and financial perspective. These may include audit checklists and scoring/ranking procedures for potential acquisitions, successful integration plans and strategies for resolving difficulties encountered during integration.  Some factors include: How often did due diligence investigations consider process safety as a marker?  If they were or were not, what was the experience following the merger? Were there adverse consequences of not looking? Following a merger, what actions were taken by the acquiring company? Were "hazardous" operations terminated?  Were the actions premeditated? Did the acquiring company initiate major cost-cutting following the merger? In such cases, what was the subsequent process safety experience? Was the acquiring company knowledgeable of the technology being acquired? Can you discern good or bad experience after the merger depending on the expertise of the acquirer? Is it a mistake to acquire potentially hazardous technology where you have limited experience? What is the mind-set and organizational structure of the two parties? Marketing focused? Corporate based? Incident/accident frequency change following a merger? Are near-misses included?
