This specification covers the military design, tactical utility, air-cooled, diesel engine driven (DED) generator sets (herein after referred to as sets or set), 3 kilowatts (kW), 60 hertz (Hz) and 400Hz and 28 volt direct current (Vdc) and an optional acoustic suppression kit.
The set shall be type I (tactical), class 2 (utility), size 3 (3kW) and of the following modes as specified (see 6.2):
Mode II - 400Hz Mode III - 60Hz Mode IV - 28 Vdc
Mode IV generator sets shall be rated 28 Vdc. The mode II and mode III generator sets shall be rated 0.8 power factor (pf) lagging and shall be reconnectable for the following voltage ratings:
a. 1 phase, 2 wire, 120 volts.
b. 1 phase, 3 wire, 120/240 volts.
c. 3 phase, 3 wire, 120 volts line-to-line.
d. 3 phase, 4 wire, 120 volts line-to-neutral and 208 volts line-to-line (120/208 volts). This document clarifies the limits, test methods and general procedures to the used for measurement of EMI on Mobile Electric Power Generating Sources (MEPGS). Such clarification is necessary as a result of the recent change to MIL-STD-461. Clarification as to the use of MIL-STD-462 is also included. This document is intended to be used as a clarifying supplement to MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-462 and does not replace MIL-STD-461 or MIL-STD-462.
