The purpose of this standard is to present the nomenclature, Chemical Abstracts Service Registry Numbers, formulas, physical and chemical properties, specification requirements, military and typical commercial uses, safety information, storage information and disposal information for metal organic compounds, technical grade. This standard does not necessarily include all of the items represented by the title or all those items which are commercially available. It does contain items preferred for use in the selection of metal organic compounds, for application by the Department of Defense. The metal organic compounds are classified and presented as four chemical types.
1. Metal alkoxides
2. Metal carboxylates
3. Metal chelates
4. Organometallic compounds
Metal organic compounds, technical grade, are used in formulating munition fillings, in formulating lubricants, as chemical intermediates, as catalysts for polymerization reactions, and in the formulation of chemical products for a variety of applications.
