Description / Abstract:

This standard covers the minimum requirements for monitoring machinery shaft vibration, shaft axial position, and bearing temperatures. It outlines a standardized system for monitoring these items and covers requirements for hardware (sensor and instruments), installation, calibration, and arrangement. This standard does not apply to accelerometer-based vibration monitoring systems, which are covered by API Standard 678.

NOTE: A bullet (•) at the beginning of a paragraph indicates that a decision by the owner is required. These decisions should be indicated on the data sheets (see Appendix A); otherwise they should be stated in the quotation request or in the order.
